with a capital T and that rhymes with D, which stands for dirt...sideshow at the Iowa State Fair... Romney falls off the highwire when he tries it without a net...terminal madness in corn country...
Well, how can I follow that? Five minutes of cool, calm elucidation is how. Uncle Mitt thought it should've been easier than this, a bit of gladhanding and faux cornpone chat with the locals and off he goes. When he woke up this morning he probably never imagined his entire campaign for the GOP Presidential nomination would be in a free fall by the time his head hit the pillow again.
Romney made the classic mistake that most pretenders who want to be President often make--in the face of blindside heckling, his brain seized up and he blurted out some testy catchphrases that will haunt him forever. He showed he has a thinner skin than Michelle Bachmann and less discretion than Dick Cheney. And that's saying A LOT.
The Mittster went completely sideways in front an audience that should've been his easiest gig. Yet he showed for all the world to see how out of touch he is with average working people, and clearly marginalized himself as exactly what those people were calling him--a Wall Street Greed Pirate and a corporate apologist.
I can't stop laughing wondering what was going through his brain when he said "corporations are people too". Oh really? I suppose in some legalistic, lame-brained technicality that might be true. But the idea that huge corporations are making massive profits and paying No Taxes, while those folks in I-oh-way are struggling to make ends meet doesn't figure to garner much warm and fuzzy feeling for those "people".
Romney cracked under pressure, in a situation where he should've known better. He lost the plot and bumbled his way back to the field in the GOP Orgy of Dumbness...whoops...nomination race.
(yes I know the song in the title is from The Music Man, not State Fair. sue me)
